best anime of 2015-2016

Best New anime of 2015-2016

So 2015 was a good year for anime! So this list is 2015 and 2016. Even though 2016 has just started I'm seeing some really good anime so far. But this is 2015 and 2016 so enjoy! :)

These are in no order! (descriptions from wiki)

1. One punch man (2015)

The story takes place in the fictional Japanese metropolis of City Z. The world is full of strange monsters that mysteriously appear and cause disasters. Saitama, the protagonist, is the strongest hero, who easily defeats the monsters or other villains with a single punch. However, due to his overwhelming strength, Saitama has become bored with his power and is constantly trying to find stronger opponents who can present a challenge to him.
On his adventures, he meets new friends, enemies, and his own disciple, the cyborg Genos, and then joins the Heroes Association in order to gain official recognition as a hero. Despite defeating many strong monsters that even the Heroes Association’s top members are unable to defeat, Saitama struggles to gain respect. Most people look down on him due to his plain physical appearance, and some accuse him of being a counterfeit hero. Only a small number of individuals recognize his incredible talent and humility towards others.

2. your lie in april (2015)

Piano prodigy Kōsei Arima dominated the competition and has become famous among child musicians. After his mother, who was also his instructor, died, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a piano recital at the age of twelve. As a result, he is no longer able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing is perfectly fine. Two years later, Kōsei hasn't touched the piano and views the world in monochrome, without any flair or color. He has resigned himself to living out his life with his good friends, Tsubaki and Watari, until, one day, a girl changes everything. Kaori Miyazono, a fourteen-year old audacious, free-spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her manic personality, helps Kōsei return to the music world and shows that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kōsei was used to.

3. Himouto Umaru chan (2015)

The series follows Umaru Doma, a high school girl who lives with her older brother Taihei. At school, Umaru appears to be the ideal student with good looks, top grades, and a lot of talent. Once she gets home, however, she reverts into a layabout who spends her time lying around, playing video games, and constantly depending on her older brother, much to his dismay. Over the course of the series, Umaru's alternative personalities help her become friends with her female classmates Kirie Motoba, who has a reputation of glaring at people; and Sylphynford Tachibana, her competitive school rival; both of whom turn out to be little sisters of Taihei's coworkers.

4. Owari no seraph (2015)

In 2012, the world allegedly comes to an end at the hands of a "human-made" virus, ravaging the global populace and leaving only children under the age of thirteen untouched. It is at this time that vampires emerge from the recesses of the earth, likely followed by age-old horrors of the dark thought only to be myth. The vampires sweep the earth and claim it in a single violent stroke, subjugating the remnants of humanity and leading them beneath the surface to safety. This "protection" comes at the price of donating blood to their captors. At the age of twelve, Yuichiro and his friend and fellow orphan Mikaela plotted to escape along with the children in Hyakuya Orphanage. However, this resulted in their deaths and Mikaela sacrifices himself in order for Yuichiro to escape and be saved by members of the Moon Demon Company, an extermination unit of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. Four years later, Yuichiro dedicates his life to destroy vampires and seek revenge against them for murdering his "family".

5. death parade (2015)

Whenever two people on Earth die at the same time, they are sent to one of many mysterious bars run by bartenders serving as arbiters. There, they must participate in Death Games with their lives on the line, the results of which reveal what secrets led them to their situation and what their fate will be afterwards, with the arbiters judging if their souls will either be sent for reincarnation or banished into the void. The series follows Decim, the lone bartender of the Quindecim bar, whose role in judging these souls changes when he meets a curious black-haired woman.

6. is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon? (2015)

The story follows the exploits of Bell Cranel, a 14-year-old solo adventurer under the goddess Hestia. As the only member of the Hestia Familia, he works hard every day in the dungeon to make ends meet while seeking to improve himself. He looks up to Aiz Wallenstein, a famous and powerful swordswoman who once saved his life, and with whom he fell in love. He is unaware that several other girls, deities and mortals alike, also develop affections towards him; most notably Hestia herself, as he also gains allies and improves himself with each new challenge he faces.

7. my love story (2015)

The story follows Takeo Gōda, a tall and muscular student who doesn't have much luck with women, as every girl he likes ends up falling for his best friend, Makoto Sunakawa, who is charming and good-looking. This all changes when he saves Rinko Yamato, a petite shy girl who, above all other expectations, falls in love with Takeo, beginning a unique love story.

8. boku no hero acedemia (2016)

zuku Midoriya is a regular middle school student in a world where people with superpowers known as "Quirks" (個性 Kosei) are the norm. However, he dreams of one day becoming a Hero (ヒーロー Hīrō), despite being bullied by his classmates for not having a Quirk. After being the only one to try and save his childhood bully, Katsuki, from a Villain (敵(ヴィラン) Viran), All Might, the world's greatest Hero, bestows upon him his own quirk, "One For All". The story follows Izuku's entrance into U.A. High School (雄英高校 Yūei Kōkō), a school that cultivates the next generation of Heroes.

9. sakamoto desu ka? (2016)

The story is centered around the incredibly cool and popular Sakamoto, a genius who is well liked by girls and disliked by boys. Despite the strange situations he may be in, Sakamoto always manages to fix the problem in absolute perfection while still being over the top.

10. Bungou stray dogs (2016)

Nakajima Atsushi was kicked out of his orphanage, and now he has no place to go and no food. While he is standing by a river, on the brink of starvation, he rescues a man whimsically attempting suicide. That man is Dazai Osamu, and he and his partner Kunikida are members of a very special detective agency. They have supernatural powers and deal with cases that are too dangerous for the police or the military. They're tracking down a tiger that has appeared in the area recently, around the time Atsushi came to the area. The tiger seems to have a connection to Atsushi, and by the time the case is solved, it is clear that Atsushi's future will involve much more of Dazai and the rest of the detectives!

11. (and my personal fav) Osomatsu San (2015-2016)

The Matsuno sextuplets (leader Osomatsu, wannabe tough guy Karamatsu, straight man Choromatsu, cynical Ichimatsu, cheerfully stupid Juushimatsu and lovable spoiled Todomatsu) are now in their 20s, still living together in the same house as NEETs. Their neighbors still include such eccentric characters as fish market idol Totoko, loud bucktoothed troublemaker Iyami, tiny rival Chiba, wacky inventor Dekapan, and giant mouthed glutton Dayon.

Join the Matsuno siblings as they overcome mundane hurdles in their daily lives, such as finding employment, figure out who should pay the bar bill, and who should get the extra pastry!

Thanks for reading !! :3

weeaboo and otaku. Why i am neither

Just wanted to make a quick post. Someone on my Tumblr asked for my opinion about weeaboos. Well many people have a negative outlook on weeaboo's and people who claim to be weaboos either deny it or say "IM PROUD TO BE A WEEABOO!" So I personally don't consider myself a weeaboo or an otaku. I know, you must be like "what, your either normal, a weak or a otaku!!" Look you could technically call me an otaku, I love anime, its one of my favourite things! But the "Urban dictionary terms" for otaku and weaboo are below. (note: urban dictionary tends to be harsh and not "TRUE" for everyone)

otaku:

Otaku is the honorific word of Taku (home).

Otaku is extremely negative in meaning as it is used to refer to someone who stays at home all the time and doesn't have a life (no social life, no love life, etc)

Usually an otaku person has nothing better to do with their life so they pass the time by watching anime, playing videogames, surfing the internet (otaku is also used to refer to a nerd/hacker/programmer).

In the Western culture, people confuse otaku to be something positive like "Guru". If you think about it, it's not really good to be called a guru if it means you are a total loser who can't socialize with other people except through the Internet.

Other Japanese words which have been confused by Westerners also include but not limited to: Anime, Manga, etc
otaku no jinsei ha yabai na! (it sucks to live the life of an otaku!)

weaboo:

A negative term directed to anyone overly obsessed with Japanese culture to the point where they become annoying.Used frequently on the image boards of 4chan

Most weaboos are uneducated about their obsession of choice and are often noobs who are overly zealous, trying to impress others with their otaku knowledge. Another trait of a weaboo is their desire to "be Japanese".

While the two terms are often fused together, weaboos are very different from anime fans or enthusiasts. A fan may be just as enthusiastic and knowlegable
about Japanese culture, mainly anime, but they neither boast about their knowledge nor call themselves otaku(because of its known negative connatation).
Weaboo: Liek OMG, did anyone see the Inuyasha Movie 3 on teh the Cartoons Network last night! LOLZ Sesshomaru is SO HOTT!!!

Weaboo 2:I hope the Naruto fillers end soon LOL

Humble anime fan: STFU weaboos

Wiki term for otaku:
Otaku (おたく/オタク?) is a Japanese term for people with obsessive interests, commonly the anime and manga fandom. Its contemporary usage originated with Akio Nakamori's 1983 essay in Manga Burikko.[1][2] Otaku may be used as a pejorative; its negativity stems from the stereotypical view of otaku and the media's reporting on Tsutomu Miyazaki, "The Otaku Murderer", in 1989. According to studies published in 2013, the term has become less negative, and an increasing number of people now self-identify as otaku.[3]
Otaku subculture is a central theme of various anime and manga works, documentaries and academic research. The subculture began in the 1980s as changing social mentalities and the nurturing of otaku traits by Japanese schools combined with the resignation of such individuals to become social outcasts. The subculture's birth coincided with the anime boom, after the release of works like Mobile Suit Gundam before it branched into Comic Market. The definition of otaku subsequently became more complex, and numerous classifications of otaku emerged. In 2005, the Nomura Research Institute divided otaku into twelve groups and estimated the size and market impact of each of these groups. Other institutions have split it further or focus on a single otaku interest. These publications classify distinct groups including anime, manga, camera, automobile, idol and electronics otaku. The economic impact of otaku has been estimated to be as high as ¥2 trillion ($18 billion).[4]

wiki term for weaboo:
couldn't find one :( but heres some pictures from google images when you search weeaboo.

MY OPINION: As I said before i consider myself neither. Because I'm an anime fan, I like japaneese culture and enjoy manga. Why put a label on it and argue? Im a fan of anime. thats it. I don't have to say "well I'm an otaku but I'm not a shut in even though thats what the word means!" Look I'm a social person, i go to school and have friends and other interests but i really love anime and these regiments within the community are causing others to feel bad. Weaboos aren't negative or positive, look don't be annoying or mean. But other than that you do you i really don't care.

Activities for bored otaku

Yes we all get bored. especially with the long ass winters in Canada! so what do I like to do when I'm bored? nothing to do? well heres some shit i do to pass the time! (not all these are otaku related i just like doing these things when I'm bored.)

This list excludes hanging out with friends because thats what i normally do and its not really a bored pass the time type thing for me.

1. DIY (i know cliche but hear me out...)

It can as simple as printing out your favourite anime characters and putting them up around your room or making a bag or your own pins. Craft at whatever your good at, or try something new! like sewing, knitting, dioramas, origami or paper craft, hotglue stuff or make your own posters. I like polymer clay too and it really kills time in a pleasant way. Hobbies like this actually receive stress and depression and make you a happier person so even if your not bored these are still therapeutic.

2. Figure photography

ok so theres a whole community of people who photograph nendoroids or collectibles. Infact I do it too, check out my instagram @happyninja . anyways so its very fun and you can get so creative with it by making your own sets and re creating scenes fro your favourite anime with figma or nendoroid. here are some of my own pictures for reference:

Take pictures with your polaroid as well if you have one! they're lots of fun!

3. Watch the newest anime! watch a new anime series from the year to see what 2016 anime has to offer or maybe wrath an old favourite anime as well! go back to the classics!

pop figure rant

(this is my personal opinion and not the worlds, lol don't kill me...)

Pop figures are common for Canadian anime fans who may be strolling through their hot topic or at walmart or a local comic book store. They all usually have the same template besides hair or accessories, and the big black, eyes and usually no mouth. And range from 11 to 15 dollars depending on were you buy them. Pop has done movies, classics, tv shows, disney and now anime.
here are three. As you can see they all look pretty much the same and not very interesting in my opinion. I only own 2 anime pops and i've sold both of them for various reasons. I think pips are half decent for anime merch considering the price. They don't really execute expressions of the characters nor their scale or body type. Mainly its only the hair and costume on the same template. Not to mention the paint job is VERY average.

Ok so here are three male anime pops. Most anime pops are from pretty mainstream popular anime. I do however like how soul was executed with his expression and pose. I would like to see more pops like this. AND KANEKI'S KAGUNE LOOKS LIKE GUMMY WORMS. actually who designed that its pretty bad... Naruto looks very basic and not really fun.

Ok here are three more, again i like how Grell got a mouth and his glasses are executed well. I actually owned a miku pop and she wouldn't stand on her own because her pigtails were longer than her body... poor design. But I do like the sculpt and colour of these three.

MY OVERALL OPINION:

pop figures are not for everyone. I don't think they're for me. However they are probably the most available anime figures in canada and america. You don't have to order them which is nice. And the price is reasonable. Most stores have tons of them, sometimes a whole wall and it's fun to select one from the hoard. They select mainstream anime but thats probably because these are mainly sold in north america and those are the popular anime here. Overall if you like the generic pop design then definitely get one, they have a vast amount of characters and all at a good price, if you don't then I would say stay away.
